A Financial Planner Who Takes Your Faith Seriously
Stewardship as a Planning Framework
Who We Serve: Faith-Driven Families
Freitas Wealth Management Group works with individuals and families for whom financial decisions are not separate from their faith. These clients want a financial planner who understands that stewardship shapes how retirement accounts, giving, and long-term planning decisions get made — not set aside while those conversations happen.
Many people who reach out to us have found that standard financial planning feels disconnected from the values that guide the rest of their lives. They are not looking for a faith-themed brochure. They want an advisor who takes their worldview seriously and can ask the same rigorous planning questions — income, savings, debt, taxes, risk — while keeping their priorities at the center of the process.
The clients we work with most often include:
- Families at an active financial stage — building careers, saving, planning for education milestones, and wanting today’s decisions to be consistent with what they believe.
- Couples approaching or entering retirement — thinking carefully about what “enough” looks like, how to give generously without compromising security, and what they want their retirement years to make possible.
- Business owners and professionals — weighing how compensation, reinvestment, and succession decisions fit inside a broader framework of stewardship.
- Multigenerational families — coordinating how wealth, responsibility, and values are transferred, not just inherited.
- Generous givers — individuals and families who want charitable giving treated as an integrated line in the plan, not an afterthought.
- People navigating a major life transition — an inheritance, a business sale, the loss of a spouse, or a significant career change — who want grounded counsel when decisions feel weightier than usual.
“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this, they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.”
– 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Who We Walk Alongside
Most of the faith-driven clients Robert works with are families at an active financial stage — building, saving, preparing for retirement, or thinking through what they want to leave behind. What they share is a desire to make financial decisions that are consistent with their values, not in tension with them.
They bring questions like: Are we being good stewards of what we have been given? How do we give generously without compromising our family’s security? Should our investments reflect what we believe? How do we talk to our children about money in a way that aligns with our faith?
These are not fringe questions. They are real planning conversations, and they require an advisor who can engage with them directly. Because Robert holds the Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®) credential, he has specific training to work through these questions alongside clients — not as a theological exercise, but as part of a practical, structured planning process that helps families pursue their goals with clarity and purpose.
How Faith Shapes Our Financial Planning
The Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®) credential is held by financial professionals who meet standards in technical knowledge, character, and experience, and who are trained to integrate biblical stewardship principles into financial advice. Robert Freitas is one of very few CKA®-designated advisors in the CSRA.
In practice, that training shapes how planning conversations are framed: how giving fits into a cash flow plan, how investment screens are applied, how “enough” is defined for a particular family, and how the plan accounts for what gets passed on. The CKA® page on this site explains the credential, its requirements, and how it shapes the planning process in more detail.
Money and Contentment
Scripture addresses money directly and repeatedly — not to condemn wealth, but to reframe its purpose. The passages that inform Robert’s work speak to the same tensions that come up in real planning conversations: the pull between security and generosity, between accumulating and releasing, between planning wisely and holding things loosely.
For clients whose faith is central to how they live, financial planning can either reinforce that orientation or work against it. The goal at Freitas Wealth Management Group is to make sure the planning process reinforces it — helping clients pursue financial goals that reflect both what they have and what they believe.
Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) investing / Faith Driven Investing (FRI) has certain risks based on the fact that the criteria excludes securities of certain issuers for non-financial reasons and, therefore, investors may forgo some market opportunities and the universe of investments available will be smaller.
Our Faith-Based Financial Planning Services
Every service Robert offers can be approached through the framework of biblical stewardship — or not — depending on what each client is looking for. For families who want their financial plan to reflect their faith, that framing shapes the key conversations: how to save, how to invest, how to give, and how to prepare what is left behind. Below are the core areas where Robert works with faith-driven clients in Aiken, Lexington, and across the CSRA.
Financial Planning
A comprehensive plan that treats your finances as one connected picture — income, savings, giving, debt, taxes, and long-term goals. For faith-driven clients, that means the plan accounts for generosity as a real line item and stewardship as a guiding question at each decision point, not just the numbers in isolation.
Retirement Planning
Whether retirement is decades away or already on the horizon, Robert helps you think through what “enough” looks like for your family — and how to pursue it without losing sight of giving, legacy, and purpose. The goal is a retirement plan that supports the life and the values you want to carry into that season.
Portfolio Management
Ongoing, advisor-managed portfolios built around your timeline, your tolerance for risk, and — when it matters to you — your values. Portfolio decisions are coordinated with the rest of your financial plan rather than treated as a separate conversation.
Values-Based Investing
For clients who want their investments to reflect their convictions, Robert offers portfolio strategies built around biblically responsible criteria — including models from Eventide Asset Management, a firm whose investment approach is designed specifically for values-aligned investors. The tradeoffs involved in a smaller investable universe are explained openly so the decision is informed.
Faith-Based Financial Planning FAQs
What is a Certified Kingdom Advisor® (CKA®)?
A Certified Kingdom Advisor® is a financial professional who has met rigorous standards in technical knowledge, character, and experience, and who is trained to integrate biblical principles of stewardship into financial advice. Robert Freitas is one of very few CKA®-designated advisors in the CSRA, which means clients who want their financial plan to reflect their faith have a local option built around that goal.
Do I have to be Christian to work with Freitas Wealth Management Group?
No. While we specialize in faith-based financial planning for clients who want it, we serve individuals, families, business owners, and retirees of all backgrounds. Our role is to help you pursue your financial goals on your terms — values-aligned investing is an option, never a requirement.
What is biblically responsible investing (BRI)?
Biblically Responsible Investing — sometimes called Faith Driven Investing (FRI) — is an approach to portfolio construction that screens investments against scripturally informed criteria. In practice, that often means excluding certain industries or companies whose practices conflict with biblical principles, and intentionally including companies whose work aligns with them. The goal is for your portfolio to reflect the same convictions that shape the rest of your life.
Does values-based or biblically responsible investing mean lower returns?
Not inherently — but it does change the investable universe. Because BRI strategies exclude certain securities for non-financial reasons, the available pool of investments is smaller, and the portfolio may perform differently than a broad-market benchmark in any given period. We walk every client through those tradeoffs openly so the decision is informed, not assumed.
What's the difference between biblically responsible investing and ESG?
Both apply non-financial criteria to investment decisions, but they’re guided by different frameworks. ESG focuses on environmental, social, and governance factors as defined by secular standards. Biblically responsible investing screens against criteria grounded in scripture — the priorities, exclusions, and convictions are different. A faith-driven investor may find that some ESG portfolios overlap with their values and others don’t, which is why a dedicated BRI approach exists.
How is a faith-based financial plan different from a conventional one?
The technical work is the same — cash flow, retirement projections, tax planning, insurance review, estate coordination. What changes is the framing of the conversations: how giving fits into the plan, what “enough” means for your family, how investments should reflect your convictions, and how you want to prepare what you leave behind. The CKA® training is what equips Robert to engage those questions directly rather than treating them as a side topic.
